Scott Uttley, CHA, President and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Uttley has over 25 years of diverse experience in the hospitality industry. His expertise is in the development and implementation of marketing plans, operating systems and cost controls in all areas of hotel operations. He has extensive experience in new property development, openings, property upgrades and turnarounds. Before founding Superior Hotel Group in 2000, he spent 16 years working in General Management and Regional Management positions for Capitol Hotel Group, Rockville, MD, and Associated Hotels, Chicago, IL, directing the operations of first-class, full-service hotels and resorts throughout the country.
For the past 20 years Mr. Uttley has served on the Board of Directors and is Past President of the Minnesota Lodging Association; He has also served on the Board of the Minneapolis Hotel Association and the Minneapolis Convention & Visitors Association. He was appointed by the Governor to the Minnesota Office of Tourism Advisory Committee and was a delegate to the 1996 White House Conference on Travel & Tourism.
Rockie Kavajecz, Senior Vice-President
Mr. Kavajecz has over 30 years of hotel experience as an owner, operator and developer. He lends his expertise in strategic planning and business acquisition. He has been involved in the acquisition, development and ownership of 19 hotel properties including limited and full-service hotels and resorts. He has a proven track record of successfully improving the asset value of his properties and developing successful hotels. He has extensive experience in all areas of hotel development and project management.
Dave Wyzen, Controller
Mr. Wyzen has more than 15 years of hotel accounting experience. All accounting is done in accordance with the Uniform System of Accounting for the Hotel Industry. Comprehensive accounting services can be handled through our home office, including Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss statements, Accounts Payable, Payroll and as needed financial reporting for the individual properties. The accounting may alternatively be done on property, or contracted with a third party accounting firm with proven experience in hotel accounting environments, whichever proves most efficient based on the individual hotel circumstances.
Kim Kaz, Corporate Human Resources Director
Ms. Kaz has spent over 25 years in a variety of positions in full-service and select-service hotels, including the past 15 years in charge of the Human Resource functions for a portfolio of up to ten hotels. Ms. Kaz ensures that a motivated and well managed staff is in place at all our hotels to deliver exceptional guest services, while fulfilling the needs of our staff and all government requirements.
Tracy Uttley, Vice President of Business Development and Corporate Director of Sales and Marketing
Ms. Uttley grew up in the hotel business and gained experience in all areas of hotel operations before deciding to specialize in sales and marketing. Ms. Uttley worked in property level sales in a variety of full-service properties, before stepping into a corporate role of overseeing the marketing of our hotels. She also handles direct sales to the corporate market in the Twin Cities, which is a major feeder market for most of our hotels.
